Following the amazing comments to this morning’s posting, I have kindly been given permission by my very good friend Duane Udd in the USA to publish his poem inspired by the three word phrase from Grace in the Phillipines...

My huge thanks to Grace for her comment that brought this about and also to Duane for allowing me to share this with you all.
CATALYST FOR CATACLYSM
Sanctions sometimes mean permission
Or describe prevention too
Hardship without intermission
Gives Zim Hobson’s choice or two
Tighter sanctions irk Mugabe
But he still lives on in style
Sanctions help him crush Zimbabwe
Through corruption greed and guile
Zim needs more than vain breast-beating
By reluctant powers that be
With inflation overheating
Why invite more scarcity
Necessity breeds invention
Fattest cats can improvise
What Zim needs is intervention
Not blind eyes that scrutinize
Nations set on setting sanctions
Need to make them ultra-smart
With no loopholes or concessions
For Bob’s henchmen with no heart
Like straight rifle not wide shotgun
Aims must always make their mark
Freeze their assets in the bargain
With a bite beyond the bark
Time ticks by with talk of talking
But poor billionaires still starve
While relentless death is stalking
Cronies all have roasts to carve
Sanction sanctions on the double
Be a winner either way
Get Zimbabwe out of trouble
May God hear her cries today
